Fuel Additive Diesel Biocide Treatment Report Trial | Success Story

fuel additive biocide biosolar b30

Story

One of Eonchemicals’ customers in the power generation industry successfully found a solution using a fuel additive diesel biocide treatment to address issues with the use of biodiesel B30 – B40 fuel. This article summarizes the trial report from that industry.

Problem The use of biodiesel fuel caused filter blockages in heavy vehicles, necessitating monthly filter replacements. This issue was due to bacteria growing in the fuel, producing slime. If the filters were not replaced, the performance of the heavy equipment would be impaired. Operations were not optimal because of the additional time and costs required for filter replacements.

Solution The solution was to use EonBiofuel 3075, a diesel fuel additive that acts as a fuel biocide to kill and prevent bacterial growth in Biodiesel B30 and B40 fuels. EonBiofuel 3075 is specially formulated to prevent and eliminate bacteria and fungi in fuel storage tanks. This product functions as a chemical additive with a small dosage in its application.

The treatment can be conducted in two stages: shock treatment and maintenance treatment.

  • Shock Treatment: Using a dosage of 3-4 liters of EonBiofuel 3075 for 1000 liters of fuel. This treatment is used for old fuel that will be supplied to heavy equipment units.
  • Maintenance Treatment: Using a dosage of 2 liters of EonBiofuel 3075 for 1000 liters of fuel. This treatment is applied to fresh fuel that will be stored.

Test Results Sample testing was conducted on-site in a lab-scale setting to ensure the bacteria remained alive and to clearly observe the results of the fuel additive treatment.

Day 9 A: B30 Diesel + EonBiofuel 3075 B: B30 Diesel without treatment (control)

The test results showed that bacteria in the control sample had grown (as indicated by the red color). In contrast, the sample treated with the EonBiofuel 3075 diesel biocide fuel additive showed no bacterial growth.

Conclusion Based on discussions and field data, the following conclusions can be drawn:

  • The initial problem was due to bacterial growth in B30 biodiesel.
  • Field test results demonstrated that EonBiofuel 3075 is effective in inhibiting bacterial growth.
